Snow Peak: We All Want It.
Posted on 10/23/2013
If there's one brand we carry that exudes quality and elegant simplicity, it's Snow Peak. Most of us can only afford their double wall mugs. The lucky ones have a folding table. I'm fortunate enough to at least be able to try this stuff out and drool over it (I wiped it up, don't worry).
Pack & Carry Fireplace
Pack & Carry Fireplace The Snow Peak "Pack & Carry Fireplace" will get comments no matter where you put it. The backyard is great, but I think rafters will get the best use out of it. In the height of fire season a firepan is often the only way to legally have a fire--even near the water. With this setup you can still enjoy a crackling blaze on those late August nights. It's a little heavy (7 lbs. 11 oz. for size Medium) so you won't be bringing it on your next backpacking trip, but I can guarantee it will impress your in-laws. Or your neighbors.
Fire Tool Set
"A tool for every job". Snow Peak designers wouldn't sleep at night if they knew your fire was being poked by some chintzy off-brand poke, or shoveled by some bargain shovel. These suckers are hefty. You won't be replacing them anytime soon. As the packaging mentions, "You can enjoy the joy of controlling the fire". Well said Snow Peak.
Take! Bamboo Chair - Long
Too nice to take camping! Okay, I'm sure they'd be great for camping, but to get something so shiny all dirty just doesn't seem right. These chairs are equally as comfortable as they are good looking. Made from weather indifferent materials and warp resistant bamboo laminate, the high tech design is hidden behind a veil of simplicity. The back (the long back version is pictured) has just the right angle for napping but is by no means reclined. This means you can have a conversation without leaning forward and still enjoy your view of the stars with a tip of the head. Perfect.
Single Action Round Low Table
You might have spotted this item earlier with the Fire Tool Kit. Like the name says, it's a round, low, table. Not a very exciting description for what is actually another beautiful product. It's the kind of table that will make you wince if your friends don't use the coasters you just set out for them. Thankfully the tough bamboo laminate can shrug off most anything you throw at it. The flat fold design allows it to slide easily into a car or nestle into the bow of a canoe, and the carrying case is a welcome addition.
Ajikataya Hatchet
Sweet Chair? Check. Jealousy inducing fireplace? Check. Stylish table? Uh-huh. Heirloom quality fireplace tools? Yup. Firewood? Oh-ho, nope! Looks like we need one more tool to complete the equation. The Ajikataya Hatchet is one of the coolest items in our shop. It's a traditional Japanese style hatchet with the perfect wrist angle for turning trees to toothpicks. A neat wooden case hides the business end of this balanced blade. It has a decent heft to it; enough to breakup hardwood and knots. The machete-like design makes it easier to strip down fallen logs and branches, but watch the follow through! Your knee will not resist this blade!
