Man on the town!

Man on the town!

We have so much gear and technical clothing that we don't usually show off the more casual side of our inventory. I pulled together a few shop favorites -- any one of which would be a great choice by itself -- into a "Man on the Town" ensemble. The main idea is a grouping of items that will work well for most of the year and excel in a wide variety of day-to-day activities.

Rab Ventus Jacket

Rab Ventus Jacket

Let's start with my favorite piece in the lineup: the 'Rab Ventus Jacket'. I think it's great for town, although I imagine Rab designed with more exciting outdoor activities in mind. It has a perfect balance of breathability that lets a breeze cool you down, but it still blocks enough wind to keep the chill off. Thumb loops and a four way stretch make for a comfortable fit and unrestricted movement.

Patagonia Quandary Pants

The 'Patagonia Quandary Pants' are another favorite here and they too find a middle ground between two categories. In this case, dedicated climbing pants vs. casual 'n comfy. Four way stretch woven fabric, articulated knees and gusseted crotch make this a climbing pant. Understated comfortable design, a simple clean appearance, and not-too-tight-not-too-loose fit put them squarely in the casual category. The best of both worlds!

Black Diamond Deployment Hoody

Black Diamond Deployment Hoody

Loved by all, is the 'Black Diamond Deployment Hoody'. The merino nylon blend is a nice mix for durability, odor control, and moisture management. It rapidly wicks moisture away and performs surprisingly well in high output activities...things you typically hear said about technical baselayers, not casual looking polo shirts! This shirt will dress up any outfit!

Evolv Cruzer

Evolv Cruzer

How much can you take out of a shoe and still call it a shoe? That's the question Evolv has answered with their 'Cruzer'. I would describe them as a modern climber-style take on the classic Low Top Converse. The Cruzers are built with simple (and tough!) canvas construction on a super thin midsole with sticky 'Trax Rubber' for approaches and low angle scrambles. The heel folds down for "slipper mode", and also includes a heel pull loop which allows you to clip them to your harness. These features fly under the radar though...no one but you will know you're wearing approach shoes.

Ski, bike, hike, or hit the town! You can't go wrong with our "Man on the Town" outfit!
